History of the DOG Deutsche Oelfabrik

The DOG Deutsche Oelfabrik can look back on more than 100 years. The company was founded in 1902 by the oil merchant Christian Walsoe. The purpose was to build a German production site for Factice so as to be independent from imports. Factice (formerly also known as "oil-rubber") became increasingly important for the young rubber industry.

In the following years, the production of Factice was increased. In 1929 there followed a merger with "Oel Werk Georg Grandel Augsburg" forming a new company called "Deutsche Oelfabrik Dr. Grandel & Co."

High flyer into the economic miracle

At the end of the World War II, the company which had been heavily damaged by the bombing of the Hamburg harbour was rebuilt. During the 1950´s the company once again flourished due to the production of Factice.

Nevertheless there was an endeavour for diversification. In the 1970´s and 1980´s the DOG-Chemie portfolio was consequently enlarged. A comprehensive portfolio for the Rubber Industry was developed.

From 1955 onwards DOG-Chemie developed Lubricant Additives especially for the Mineral Oil Industry. The marketing was coordinated through the DOG daughter Deograndel. Since then, the company know-how has increased considerably.

Lubricant Additives and Coating Industry

The DOG-Chemie key competence in sulphur and phosphor chemistry were utilised in the 1990´s to develop the business segment Lubricant Additives under the brand name DeoAdd. At the beginning of 2006 DeoAdd Vertriebsgesellschaft (formerly Deograndel) was reintegrated into DOG-Chemie.

Also in 2006 DOG-Chemie strengthened its activities in the Coating Industry. Deolink Silane products as well as Peroxide Factice WP/WPF are available as innovative products. The DOG product range for the Coating Industry will continually be extended.
